Celebrate Loving Kindness

And don’t stop there. Think of all the other people in your life who have shown you a kindness–or could use one. Perhaps the mail carrier who is always smiling. Or your hairdresser. Or the elderly neighbor who lives alone. Or the woman you barely know who took your place at the Girl Scouts cookie sale table when you were sick. For all of them, create very small mementos on this special day. It doesn’t need to be fancy to be meaningful. How about – – –

A small box of homemade cookies or fudge.

A nosegay of herbs or pretty foliage from your garden, tied with a colorful ribbon.

A card handmade by your children.

A homemade gift certificate good for errands or chauffeur service.

An enormous hug and a “thank you for being my friend.”
