For the next dozen weeks (through early May), I’m going to be offering free workshops on growing a vegetable garden in containers. It’s a great solution for people who don’t have a suitable garden space. And it’s also a terrific help for those who don’t have the flexibility they once had – container gardening is much easier on the knees!

In these workshops I start with the basics: types of containers, soil, fertilizer, watering, general care, etc., answering questions along the way. Then I demonstrate those principles by creating a container garden of mixed edibles: vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. And here’s the best part: we’ll have a drawing at the end and some lucky person gets to take the finished garden home.

Here’s the schedule for the next few weeks:

April 1, 2:00 pm, Corvallis, OR main library

April 5, 6:30 pm, West Linn, OR library

April 7, 6:30- pm, Cedar Mill, OR library

April 13, 6:00 pm, Newberg, OR library

April 15, 1:00 pm, McMinnville, OR library
