Soup Night

Imagine a neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else, people trust each other, watch out for each other, children thrive, seniors feel safe, and a genuine sense of community replaces isolation. This isn’t a fantasy, and it isn’t time travel back to the 1950s; it’s happening right now, in communities all across the U.S.

It starts with a simple, brilliant idea: get everyone together on a regular basis to share an easy meal of soup and bread, and watch what happens. This is what happens: people begin to know each other, and pretty soon a real sense of neighborliness starts to blossom. Even people who have very little in common begin to build a bond, simply because they sit down to eat together on a regular basis. Before long, they’re saying things like, “We never want to miss it. It’s too much fun.”
