I consider myself one lucky girl. I live in one of the most vibrant cities (Portland, Oregon) in one of the most beautiful parts of the country (the Pacific Northwest) and I get to spend every day playing with words. And I do mean play. I love to watch words dance, and skip, and sing. Writing is my livelihood, and I take it very seriously, but how fortunate am I to be able to work full time at something I love. I love working in the garden, and I love cooking, and I love writing about both of them. The process of taking the wisp of a notion and shaping it into a book structure, then finding just the right words to express the ideas – let me tell you, it’s so much fun that sometimes I sit at my keyboard and giggle all by myself.
